From the Bill Cosby sexual assault scandal, to the decision in Dollar General Corporation v. Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, 2016 has seen the spread of sexual assault awareness nationwide. Rebecca O' Connor, the vice president of public policy for the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN) said that the prevalence of headline-grabbing sexual assaults reported on in 2016 has produced a "tremendous opportunity" to open dialogue and provide education on sexual assault. Tempers flared as Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele confronted the Cosby defense team about their public identification of multiple sexual assault accusers. Steele sought to limit this "intimidation" tactic by the defense. The parties were in court Tuesday morning because the defense seeks to limit the number of accusers permitted to testify in the Andrea Constand trial.
Bill Cosby appeared at his arraignment hearing in Elkins Park, PA on December 30th where he was charged as a felon with indecent sexual assault. These charges stem from an incident at Cosby's home in which he is accused of drugging and raping a woman. Read more.
